The sailor, Taras Ostapchuk, a 55-year-old Ukrainian, engineer officer on the ship Lady Anastasia, was arrested by the Civil Guard last Saturday at Port Adriano after trying to sink the yacht of his boss, Alexander Mijeev, a Russian tycoon who produces weapons military for the Putin government.
Taras saw how a Russian missile hit some apartments in Kiev and decided to act. “I live in a very similar building.”
He decided to take revenge against his boss. He opened several water valves to try to ensure that the boat, 48 meters long and valued at seven million euros, ended up at the bottom of the port. He before he gave notice to the crew to abandon ship.
The companions began to shout at him to close everything. But Taras told them that they too were Ukrainians and that their homeland had been attacked by missiles produced by the ship’s owner. He took full responsibility for what he had done.
Taras stated: “Of course I am going to fight. As soon as I reach the first city in Ukraine, I will look for a military commander and ask if they need me.”
