Adidas and environmental organization Parley for the Oceans have teamed up to create a recycled plastic tennis court that floats inside Australia’s Great Barrier Reef marine park.
Adidas worked with the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park authorities to set up the floating tennis court on a barge. It is made with recycled plastic and seeks to raise awareness about the pollution of the oceans
The surface was made from recycled plastic provided by Parley for the Oceans, which also provided the brand with material to use in its latest sneaker collection.
After the Australian Open is over, the tennis court will be recycled and donated to a school near the town of Townsville.
Adidas on its path to sustainability has committed to using recyclable materials in 90% of its clothing lines by 2025, and to reduce its carbon footprint by 30% by 2030.
