2022 Atlantic Cup Starts May 22

The 8th edition of the Atlantic Cup will return on May 22, 2022!

The Atlantic Cup is the only dedicated Class40 race in the United States and with its unique format it is a true test of a sailor’s all-around ability.

The Atlantic Cup will once again start in Charleston, South Carolina and travel 648 nautical miles north to New York. For the second leg, competitors will depart New York for a shorter sprint leg of 360nm to Portland, Maine. The third and final stage of the race will be a little different (and we think exciting) in 2022. Rather than a crewed inshore series, we will hold two coastal day races. As many of you know the third leg of The Atlantic Cup has previously required crews increase their numbers to 6 for an inshore series, this change will allow teams to retain their pairing from the offshore legs whilst still providing the opportunity to explore Casco Bay and Maine’s beautiful coastline.

There are many reasons to compete in the Atlantic Cup. From its varied format in distance, navigational challenges in both Cape Hatteras and Cape Cod, plus the added bonus of racing in the Gulf Stream, the Atlantic Cup provides sailors many ways to test their skills. In addition, the race fits well into the calendar for any teams intending to do the Caribbean 600; the delivery to Charleston is easy and we are more than happy to help facilitate dockage once there.

The Atlantic Cup is often referred to as one of the most fun and challenging races around and we hope if you haven’t ever competed, that we will see you on the start line in one year! The Notice of Race will be released in the coming weeks so stay tuned.
