Simrad introduces SteadySteer, the extremely smooth rudder
Simrad, a leader in the design and manufacture of world-class maritime navigation, radar, autopilot and communications systems, announces the launch of SteadySteer, a new feature that makes autopilot navigation safer and more convenient . SteadySteer offers simple and intuitive control and allows the user to take immediate manual control of the boat in turns without having to disconnect the autopilot; this is automatically re-entered once the new route is established.
SteadySteer allows users to control the autopilot with the helm. Once rudder movement is detected, SteadySteer temporarily overrides the autopilot while the user manually turns the turn, giving you immediate manual override at any time. No need to press any buttons, no alarms, just turn the wheel.
New technology reduces distractions and allows you to focus only on navigation. There is no need to guess or calculate the number of degrees of heading change, look at the displays or use the buttons, just point the heading towards your destination. With this system, you can rely on the autopilot to keep you heading straight between turns.
Principal functions:
• Softer governance
• Use the rudder to control the autopilot
• Manual steering control with convenient manual function
• Automatic auto-pilot connection on straight sections of a route
• Hassle-free and intuitive boat control •
