Ibiza JoySail Regatta

The second day of the Ibiza JoySail was a 30 nautical mile carousel through southwestern Ibiza waters. The Swan 115 Moat was the main protagonist by prevailing in real time and compensated, which allows it to reach the final day leading the classification tied at 3 points with the YD 120 Bliss, with which both boats will play the victory of the Ibiza JoySail on the final day.

The starting point was the same as that of the return to Formentera, in front of the Punta de Sa Pedrera, although in this case the fleet headed towards Es Vedrà, an iconic image of the Pitiüsas islands. The start was reversed from low to high with the Swan 80 Dark Horse first and the Swan 115 Moat last. The other Swan 115, Shamanna, who sails with reduced crew left late, causing her twin Moat to quickly hunt her down.

The Moat, in which Joan Vila sails, considered the best navigator in the world, and with the world tour Cali Sanmartí, among the 30 crew of her, quickly took the direct and had already passed the entire fleet in the passage through Es Vedrà. From there it was a matter of time. The first leader, the YD 120 Bliss, followed in his wake from afar, along with the other Swan 115 Shamanna, who did not sail with the ease of the first day, was during the entire regatta in a heads-up with the Bliss. In the end it would be Bliss who would finish second and Shamanna, third in today’s test. The Dark Horse, the smallest ship in the fleet, as happened on the return to Formentera, was sailing away from the rest in fourth position.

The wind blew again gently over 10 knots of intensity, which made the Moat complete the route in 2 hours and 30 and the rest would exceed 3 hours.

This Sunday there will be a final round of this first edition of the Ibiza JoySail.
