SSL TEST EVENT TWO
THE BRAZILIAN STORM TAKES TWO MORE RACES
The SSL Team Brazil, led by its five-time medalist Robert Scheidt and the two younge two-time Olympic Champions Martine Grael and Kahena Kunze, wins both of today’s races on lake Neuchatel for the second SSL Test Event. They raced in the afternoon on Fleet 1, with SSL Team Hungary, Oman and Israel, with the wind slowly dropping from the chilly 12 knots of the morning to a milder 6 at around 3pm.
In Fleet 1, SSL Team Hungary follows Brazil, then Oman and Israel. The challenge for first is over already, and the remaining three teams should fight between tomorrow and Saturday for the second spot that will send them through to Sunday’s Final winner-takes-all race.
The ranking after Day Two is:
1 – SSL Team Brazil 4
2 – SSL Team Hungary 11
3 – SSL Team Oman 12
4 – SSL Team Israel 13
Fleet 2 raced in the morning and SSL Team Croatia with Captain Sime Fantela, Gold medalist in Rio in the 470 Class, won the first bullet while Switzerland, with Match Racer Captain Eric Monnin, claimed the second one. There is not a dominating team in this fleet, and the four teams are all quite close on points, the next races will be crucial to determine the best two national teams that will go on in the Final.
